Wine is an inseparable part of the history of Melnik’s region, culture, life and spirituality. These lands are successors of ancient civilizations that have left an indelible mark on the present-day. Today, we have inherited from the Thracians the unique Bulgarian vine varieties such as Broad Leaved Vine and Keratsuda. The hilly terrain, relatively poor soil, high annual temperatures and the dry climate of these lands are a perfect precondition for growing local red vine varieties – Old Broad Leaved Melnik Vine, Broad Leaved Melnik Vine, Melnik 55, Melnik 82, Melnik 1300, Ruen, Sandanski Misket and the white vine variety – Keratsuda.

We offer you to travel around and find a wine to your taste in our 6 wine routes. You can also discover a new hobby – grape harvesting, vine growing or making a wine of your own. Be our guests to the wine festivals in September and February in the town of Melnik.
